BS7950 Tilt & Turn

BS7950 Tilt & Turn Test Success

Date: 21/07/2010

Dempsey Dyer's UPVC Tilt & Turn window has successfully passed the BS7950 high security test at BSI's UKAS accredited test house in Hemel Hempstead. The test was performed on the 15th July and was witnessed by Peter Dyer, Director at Dempsey Dyer and Gareth Turner of Maco UK.

The test was required as part of Dempsey Dyer's involvement in the Crocodile Works rejuvenation project in Birmingham. Dempsey Dyer's Tilt & Turn windows now meet the requirements of the high security "Secured By Design" status which was specified for the window products on the development. Laminated glass is combined with the BS7950 Tilt & Turn window in order to achieve this accreditation.

There has been much interest throughout the supply chain of Dempsey Dyer as the window tested was considerably large. At a size of 900mm wide and 2100mm high, BSI employees were unsure as to whether to treat the window as a door.

Having tested the product fully under window loads of 3.5kN of pressure and finding that the product was unmoved, Peter Dyer asked for the UPVC Tilt & Turn window to be tested to destruction. The rig was only able to allow up to 5kN of pressure and again the frame was unmoved.

This commitment to pushing the boundaries of both UPVC and timber window design is why Dempsey Dyer are renowned throughout the Fenestration industry for delivering cutting edge products and being able to find solutions for customers with highly bespoke requirements.

As a BSI registered company for quality management, Dempsey Dyer has an ongoing commitment to not only push the boundaries of window design but to also continue to provide a high level of customer support together with quality products.
