Dempsey Dyer Announce Integrated Systems Project
Date: 28/02/2011
As part of Dempsey Dyer's continuous improvement program, development is well underway to completely overhaul the administration side of the business with the integration of a new ERP system.
Over the last few months, Dempsey Dyer has been working closely with potential partners to identify the most appropriate software solutions that will benefit the business. This highly important process will shortly come to a close with exact details of the software solution being finalised.
Based on both industry standard and industry specific software packages but tailored to Dempsey Dyer's specific needs, the package will seamlessly integrate all aspects of the business from receipt of order through to the delivery and/or installation of the finished goods.
Peter Dyer, Sales and Marketing Director at Dempsey Dyer comments: "Our ongoing capital investment strategy ensures that we are in a position to take advantage of opportunities in all market sectors".
The current investment program, which stands at £2.7 million over the last 5 years, has been focussed predominantly on the window, door and conservatory production environment of the business, but in the last 18 months, it became increasingly clear that the administrative element of the business was underperforming when compared to the production environment.
Peter continues: "The new software system will fundamentally change the way in which we do business. Processes will be eliminated, streamlined and total transparency of internal information will be possible. We are genuinely excited about our prospects for sustainable growth over the next five years and see this latest investment as being critical to the broader strategy we are all working towards. As we move ever forward as a company, it is important that we embrace advancements in all aspects of the business. Too often, the office administration is overlooked as we strive for lean manufacturing improvements. The time has now come to implement Lean Office".
The expected project cost will total £270,000 with implementation to be complete by the end of November 2011.
The benefits will not just stop with Dempsey Dyer itself, both suppliers and customers alike will have access to relevant information to monitor stock levels or check where ordered product is in the production process.
